Do I have to pay any fees for registering or when I get a job?

No fees at all. Absolutely nothing.

How do I register as a new user?

Register with us by clicking the "Submit Resume" button. At the "Register a new account" screen, select a user ID of your choice and a password. If the user ID has been taken, choose another one.

How do I apply for a job?

Click on any of the job links in the Vacancies page, and a pop-up window will open to display the requirements in detail. Next click the "Apply" button. This will take you to the login screen. If you are an existing user, login with your ID and password. Otherwise just click "Sign up now" to register yourself as a new user.

I'm too busy and don't have the time to register, so is it possible to get someone from your company to contact me?

Yes you can! At the "Register a new account" page, just fill in the mandatory fields (marked with *) and click the "save & next" button, and someone from our office will contact you the instant you have been selected for an interview. Of course it would definitely help if you could upload your resume to us.

If I am an existing user, can I "re-apply" for another position?

Yes of course! You can come back and re-apply for any positions as many times as you like by selecting a position under the Job Title section and hitting the "Apply" button. Once you're in iResume, a message will be displayed telling you that your application has been sent and someone will be in touch with you when there's news.

Can I apply for a position that is not on the list?

Yes you can! Just login and select the "Others, please specify" option, then fill in the name of the position in the textbox provided under the "Position" field. We will inform you immediately once a suitable position that fits your experience and qualification arises.

How secure is my resume?

Only our administrators have full access to your resume, and your password is fully encrypted for your own privacy. You can rest assured that your resume will be kept strictly confidential at all times. Should you want your resume to be removed from our database, all you have to do is send us an email and we will delete it from the database within 24 hours.

What does it mean to be on contract?

When you sign an employment contract with us for a specific period, it is usually an agreement for you to work for us at our client's site for that said period, with renewal upon notice. So basically you will be reporting to our client but your salary and benefits will be administered by us.

What is the advantage of contracting?

The advantage of being on contract is that you have the opportunity to experience and get to know your job and the company first rather than commit to a permanent job and decide to quit months later, which won't be good for your resume. Contracting can be for either long or short term. If you like your current contract you can renew it before the term ends.

Can I become a permanent after working on contract for a while?

Yes you can, and there have been many such cases. You can request to be converted to a permanent staff of the client's company. Of course it will be subject to certain conditions such as your work record and performance.

What is outsourcing?

Outsourcing takes place when an organisation transfers the ownership of a business process to an exogenous supplier. The key to this definition is the aspect of the transfer of control. This definition differentiates outsourcing from business relationships in which the buyer retains control of the process or, in other words, tells the supplier how to do the work. It is the transfer of ownership that defines outsourcing and often makes it a slightly more challenging process. In outsourcing, the buyer does not instruct the supplier how to perform their task but instead focuses on communicating what results they desire; this leaves the process of accomplishing and achieving those results to the supplier, allowing for more flexibility and creativity.

What is the purpose of outsourcing?

Outsourcing, once used mainly for downsizing and cost reductions within major corporations, is becoming a strategic tool that has a powerful impact on corporate growth and financial stability. More companies than ever before are establishing strategic partnerships that give them access to specialized expertise in critical business functions.

Is "outsourcing" just another term for "contracting" or "contracting out"?

These two terms are often confused and taken to mean the same thing, but they are not the same at all. Contracting is when a company (buyer) purchases goods or services from another company (supplier or vendor). In this situation, the buyer owns and controls the entire process. In other words, the buyer tells the supplier exactly what they want and how they want the supplier to perform these services. The supplier is not given the option of varying from the buyer's instructions. The buyer can also replace the supplier quite easily by breaking the contract.

In outsourcing, the buyer turns over the control (i.e. ownership) of the process to the supplier. The buyer tells the supplier what results they want the supplier to achieve, but the supplier decides how to achieve those results. In outsourcing, the supplier has expertise in a certain process (such as desktop, human resources, or logistics etc.), and thus will have economies of scale. If the buyer were to dictate to the supplier how to do the job (as in contracting), the buyer would be destroying an important aspect that makes outsourcing work - the value that is created by using the supplier's expertise and economies of scale. Telling the supplier how to do the job also eliminates accountability on the part of the supplier, and this is an important element in successful outsourcing relationships.
